Contemporary Art Development Officer
This post is a joint post developed by Arts Council England, East Midlands and National Trust, East Midlands to build and engage new audiences through contemporary art and to enhance emerging and established artist’s careers and is set within the context of a national partnership set up between the two organisations.
The Contemporary Art Development Officer will provide professional services and support in the area of contemporary visual arts for some of the properties in the East Midlands region. The post will act as an initiator, leading on planning and integrating arts projects and events into property activities, making sure that they are of an appropriate standard and suitable for the site and target audience. They will build relationships, embedding contemporary art in property programmes and must help properties to engage with their visitors and make links with their local communities.
The post holder will be expected to have visual art and curatorial experience as well as an understanding of programming and of working with a range of audiences and communities to encourage engagement in contemporary art.
Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holders to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Trust.
