Tenders invited for resale royalty scheme
Minister for the Arts Peter Garrett announced the first step in establishing the resale royalty scheme for visual artists following the passage of the Resale Royalty Right for Visual Artists Bill 2009 on 26 November 2009.
Minister Garrett said the Australian Government has released an open tender to identify a collecting society to administer this important scheme that will provide visual artists with the right to receive royalty payments from future sales of their art.
"The collecting society will have responsibility for setting up and delivering Australia's first resale royalty scheme for visual artists. Australian artists will finally gain a share in the growing value of their artworks and ongoing rights in their art," Mr Garrett said.
