Director, Finance and Administration
About the role
As a senior member of the Executive Management Group reporting to the Director and CEO of the Canada Council, you will be responsible for providing corporate leadership and direction for the effective stewardship of financial and material resources. You will oversee the effective management of an investment portfolio in excess of $250 million and manage the interface of audits with the Office of the Auditor General.
You will also be called upon for the provision of accounting, contracting, corporate policies, information systems, accommodation and security services and, corporate records management, and oversees access to information and privacy. The positions that report to the Director, Finance and Administration are: Head, Finance; Head, Financial Planning; Head, Information Management; Manager, Administrative Services; Administrator, Reference and Documentation; ATIP Coordinator; and Corporate Policy Advisor.
The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/French) and has:
a professional accounting designation;
ten (10) years of financial management experience, preferably in the private sector or a crown corporation;
knowledge and understanding of investments;
excellent interpersonal, communication and team-building skills;
the ability to motivate staff and to deal with conflicting priorities and differing points of view; and
strong planning, analytical and policy development skills.
