International Contest to Choose the Director of Arts Centre

The National Culture and Arts Council (CoNCA) and the Barcelona Culture Council opened up an international contest to select the Director of the new contemporary arts centre that will be based at Barcelona’s old dog track, as they informed today through a Communiqué.

The deadline is October 15. The terms and conditions, that will be published in specialized media worldwide, are available on CoNCA’s and Barcelona Council’s Websites.

“The Dog Track. Barcelona’s Contemporary Arts Centre” will be a brand new venue, specialized in visual arts that will take in various forms or artistic creation, will generate knowledge and dialogue and will have as its objective to incorporate Barcelona and Catalonia in the international map of arts centres within the frame of reference of a global culture.

It is expected that it will occupy two different buildings, the old Dog Track and la Capella, both in Catalonia’s capital.

Coinciding with this contest, the Culture Council published the transcripts of the conferences and debates about this new arts centre that took place at the MACBA on July 6-7, where professional visual artists from all over Catalonia as well as heads of the main European Contemporary Arts Centre gathered.
