Director - Heritage Institute

The National Heritage Board preserves, presents and promotes the cultural heritage of Singapore. We encourage the preservation of national monuments, develop heritage programmes, mark historic sites and provide consultancy services to organisations who wish to perpetuate our heritage. Much of our focus includes outreach activities that bring heritage to where our people are, such as travelling exhibitions and heritage trails. Our vision is to make heritage an enriching part of everyone's life.

The post holder will:
- Work with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategies and workplans for the respective HIs.
- Oversee development/ redevelopment of the various HIs.
- Build relations with and engage different ethnic community groups in their cultural and social heritage.

Oversee exhibitions and programmes of the HIs
- Lead the curatorial team to work with the respective Boards to direct and implement exhibitions (including permanent and traveling exhibitions).
- Lead the team in educational and promotional events/programmes to enhance the visibility and visitorship to the centres.

Management of HI operations
- Ensure revenue generation and prudent budgeting to ensure financial viability of the HIs.
- Establish policies and procedures to ensure sound corporate governance in the HIs.
- Drive heritage philanthropy efforts to raise funds (sponsorship, donations) for the HIs.
- Oversee estate management of the HIs.
Job Requirements:  - Possess a Bachelor degree with at least 8 to 10 years of working experience, preferably in community based or arts and heritage related industries.
- Have a passion in showcasing and promoting the diverse cultural heritage of Singapore and enhancing community bonding.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and able to engage a spectrum of stakeholders.
- Have excellent written and verbal skills so as to effectively communicate to various stakeholders, preferably proficient in one of the following - Malay, Mandarin or Tamil.
- Possess strong management skills and ability to bring out the best in staff.
- Experience in fundraising would be an added advantage.
