The Centre for Cultural Policy Studies conducts research and teaching in the fields of cultural policy, arts and design management and the creative industries. Its distinctive approach is an engagement with both the practical realities of working in the cultural and media sector and with theoretical questions around the conditions of contemporary culture and communication. Whilst extending across a range of disciplines, the Centre's research culture is based on a humanities tradition of critical investigation. This critical approach has informed research partnerships and contracts with a variety of institutions including the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and Arts Council England (ACE).

You will contribute to research and research supervision within the Centre, and to the acquisition of appropriate external funding to support a developing research agenda in cultural policy and the creative industries. In the 2008 RAE, the department in which the Centre is based received a GPA score of 3.15.

This post will include a significant teaching contribution to one or more of the Centre's three MA programmes - the MA in International Design and Communication Management; MA in Creative and Media Enterprises; MA in European Cultural Policy and Management. The Centre's taught MA programmes are multi-disciplinary, combining conceptual analysis, philosophical issues and practical skills. Teaching in the Centre requires an ability to communicate outside narrow academic specialisms and to relate theory to practice and vice versa.

You will hold a doctoral degree and have experience of both teaching and research in a university context. You will have a strong research record, including academic publications, within any field appropriate to the Centre's work.
