Director, Arts and Culture Divisions

The Arts & Culture Group works to develop a rich and stimulating cultural sector for all Australians by:
- developing policy and providing advice on cultural policy issues;
- working with portfolio agencies and other government departments to achieve the government’s arts and cultural objectives;
- administering programs that support cultural activities, philanthropy, elite arts training, and film production; and
- delivering national Indigenous Art, Culture, Languages and Broadcasting programs.
Duties
1. Manage and direct the work of a section with responsibility for the content, timeliness and presentation of work, while managing staff performance and development and ensuring the work of the section is managed within budget.
2. Provide high level advice on issues concerning arts and culture policy and programs, and in relation to arts and culture portfolio agencies and funded organizations, and other matters as required.
3. Undertake high level negotiation and liaison with funded organisations, relevant Australian Government agencies, state and territory governments on policy/governance related issues.
4. Represent the Department in internal and external forums.
5. Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to apply the Australian Public Service Values and Code of Conduct, participative management practices, workplace diversity and occupational health and safety within a work and team environment.
