Head, Arts Services Unit
Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director, Arts Disciplines, develops policies and procedures to deliver Canada Council programs in an efficient and cost effective manner; contributes to the strategic planning and long range development of the Canada Council; manages the administrative services of the Arts Disciplines Division; manages the production of documents and provides information on the Canada Council and its programs; manages the activities of the Registry Centre at the Canada Council; manages the activities, budget, and staff of eleven employees of the Arts Services Unit; and performs other related duties.
Knowledge and skills
The duties of the position requires a thorough knowledge of the principles, theories, and practical aspects of management, as well as excellent project management and administration skills. A comprehensive knowledge of Canada Council, its policies, programs, procedures and grant delivery and adjudication processes is required. The ability to analyze and provide appropriate and strategic responses to complex issues in a rapidly changing artistic and administrative environment is essential. Excellent negotiation, collaboration, planning and communication skills are required to develop, provide and promote excellent service to internal and external clients.
This knowledge is usually acquired through completion of a university degree in arts, public or business administration or equivalent professional practice.
