Director, market development
The director, market development reports directly to the executive director, arts development. You will be required to lead and direct the delivery and evaluation of strategies and programs to develop markets and audiences for Australian artists, companies and organisations, nationally and internationally.
You must have extensive experience in promoting Australian contemporary arts and a thorough knowledge and awareness of the Australian arts sector with up-to-date contacts within the Australian and international arts sector, as well as excellent leadership, project and budget management skills.
What you can expect
The total remuneration package would be $110,000 per annum negotiable.
Selection criteria
Extensive experience in promoting Australian contemporary arts internationally and nationally through participation at key arts markets, festivals and arts events, the programming and presentation of Australian performing arts and/or tour management of artists and arts organisations, domestically and internationally.
A high degree of knowledge and awareness of the Australian arts sector with up-to-date contacts (i.e. artists, arts organisations, presenters, producers, etc.) and a thorough understanding of current developments impacting the national and international marketplace.
Demonstrated exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to broker strategic partnerships and to communicate effectively with a broad range of people. Demonstrated exceptional skills to lead, motivate, direct and manage a large team of professional staff. Clearly conveys information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and implement policies, strategic plans and projects. Highly-developed project planning, leadership and management skills. Effectively manage project outcomes, start and end dates and resources with an ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative, focus and ability to prioritise a heavy workload and meet competing deadlines of large complex projects in a timely and effective way.
