Director, theatre

The Australia Council for the Arts is seeking an experienced, driven, articulate and committed individual to lead the Australia Council’s theatre team.

What you will be doing
The director theatre provides leadership to the theatre section. The person in this role is responsible for driving whole-of-organisation strategic directions for Theatre through articulation of a sector plan developed in consultation with key internal and external stakeholders.

What you can expect
A remuneration package, appropriate for a senior position, will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Selection criteria
Significant sector knowledge and experience including knowledge and understanding of current issues, gained through high profile and / or influential roles.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and strategic plans.
Exceptional relationship management skills with ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people.
Highly developed written, oral communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide innovative and creative leadership in order to influence and integrate cross-Council business.
Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, build team skills and model performance management skills.
Experience in facilitating consultative processes, developing and sustaining effective partnerships and working with groups with a diverse range of interests.
Highly developed research and analysis skills including demonstrated positive approach to high level problem solving.
