Director, research and strategic analysis
The Director, Research and Strategic Analysis reports directly to the Executive Director, Arts Development. You will be responsible for leading the Australia Council’s arts research and strategic analysis program, for managing relationships with key stakeholder organisations and for providing insight, analysis and recommendations.
You must have senior experience in strategic analysis and planning, and in managing a broad spectrum of research and evaluation projects in an issues-rich, multi-stakeholder environment. You must also demonstrate the ability to lead a team of research, analysis and information professionals and external suppliers to achieve high quality, actionable results.

A remuneration package, appropriate for a senior position, will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Selection criteria
Research and analysis skills – Collects and reviews information needed to manage an organisation or ongoing activities within it. Highly developed analytical, research, evaluation and problem solving skills including interpreting and analysing data and financial and market analysis.
Technical / professional knowledge – Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise. Broad interest in and knowledge of arts and culture including knowledge and understanding of current issues. Skills and experience in the practices of research and analysis.
Communication skills – Exceptional relationship management skills. Highly developed written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex ideas with a broad range of people.
Project management – Effectively manages project outcomes, start and end dates and resources. Highly developed project and contract management skills.
Work management – Effectively manages one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently. Ability to deal with and prioritise a high workload and juggle competing demands.
