Humanities Administrator

The Division of Public Programs supports high quality projects blending sound humanities scholarship with engaging presentation formats designed to provide rich learning experiences for large and diverse public audiences. Programmatic activities that could receive support include, but are not limited to, radio and television documentaries, exhibition and interpretation of historic sites, reading or film discussion series, lectures, symposia, and a wide array of related components in support of such programs, for example, catalogs, brochures, after school curricular guides and a wide array of products using new and creative technology. Under the supervision of the Deputy to the Director, the incumbent works with potential applicants in the development of proposals and participates fully in administrative, financial, program policy and other matters for the Division. The incumbent reviews grant proposals and assesses their eligibility and consistency with Endowment goals; arranges for their review and evaluation by expert panelists; and administers the continued evaluation and payments for current grants. Consequently, the incumbent should have knowledge of the delivery of humanities programs to the broad public and experience working with historical and cultural organizations, and/or with media projects or academic institutions. The incumbent represents the Division at various meetings and conducts site visits to promote the Division's programs and to evaluate the accomplishments of the current projects it supports.
