Invitation To Tender
Invitation to tender: participatory arts networking research Closing date for applications: 23 July 2007 The Arts Council wishes to retain a research consultant for a research project into networking and information-sharing for participatory arts. The aim is to produce an implementation plan for strategic development of participatory arts networking in 2008. The Arts Council understands participatory arts to include a broad range of practice where people collaborate with skilled artists to make or interpret art. The core purpose of this work is to develop creative individuals and communities. This work takes place in a broad range of settings including healthcare, educational, community and youth settings. Researchers and research teams with proven research expertise and some knowledge in the area of participatory arts in Ireland are invited to tender for this study. The research objectives are as follows: • Identify the ways that participatory artists and practitioners currently meet, share professional expertise, and collaborate. Evaluate these different approaches to networking, identifying the factors that enable them, so that these factors may be replicated more widely through our supports. • Profile existing participatory arts networking. Identify gaps and opportunities in provision, and potential supports for these. • Test the Arts Council’s findings and assumptions, about the needs and opportunities which we think currently exist, in order to ensure that we work in response to public demand and people’s own capacity. Test the feasibility of identified options for Arts Council supports. Establish issues and priorities. • Identify effective models of networking and information-exchange, nationally and internationally, arts and non-arts, which may be transferable to participatory arts in Ireland. Identify the contexts and characteristics of their success. • Devise a fully costed implementation plan to increase networking and information-exchange in participatory arts through Arts Council supports. Make recommendations for change in respect to responsive policy, appropriate models, funding programmes and strategic priorities for development. • Develop an information resource that will meet the arts community’s own needs. This will be disseminated to the arts community. The purpose is to draw up an information tool from the information gathered.
