Project Officer, Indigenous Arts Development
Job Title: Project Officer, Indigenous Arts Development (Alice Springs) Designation: Administrative Officer 6 Work Unit: Arts NT Position number: 23022 Responsible to: Manager, Indigenous Arts Development Primary Objective Under the supervision of the Manager, Indigenous Arts Development and in consultation with the sector and key stakeholders, recommend, develop and manage policy initiatives and projects consistent with the Indigenous Arts Strategy, Building Strong Arts Business, to grow the Indigenous arts sector in the Northern Territory. Key Responsibilities 1. Work with Indigenous artists, organisations and communities in the Alice Springs, Central Desert and Barkly regions to develop, manage and evaluate arts policies and projects consistent with Building Strong Arts Business. 2. Develop and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with key regional Indigenous organisations, artists, external stakeholders and Northern Territory Government agencies to identify and broker opportunities to grow the sector. 3. Provide support and advice to Indigenous artists and key regional Indigenous organisations in relation to Arts NT funding and development programs and processes. 4. Assist with research, project evaluation, data collection and policy review to support informed decisions and action for the implementation of Building Strong Arts Business. 5. Provide high level support and assistance to the Manager Indigenous Arts Development in regard to strategic policy advice and reporting in relation to Indigenous arts development in the Northern Territory. Selection Criteria Essential 1. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and with Indigenous and non-Indigenous organisations and government agencies. 2. Demonstrated ability in research, policy development, project management and project evaluation. 3. Proven ability to maintain flexibility, diplomacy and tact within organisational and community environments. 4. Oral and written communication skills of a high standard. 5. Well developed knowledge and networks of the wider Indigenous and non-Indigenous arts and cultural community in general. 6. Demonstrated capacity to deliver arts and culture outcomes involving Indigenous people and communities in urban and regional contexts. Desirable 1. Tertiary qualifications in arts or relevant field. 2. Sound knowledge of Government procedures and protocols and demonstrated ability to interpret and manage the social, political and organisational environment. 3. Northern Territory drivers license or the ability to acquire.
