Executive Director
The Community Arts Partnership at the Peddie School (CAPPS) is a unique arts organization located on the campus of a premiere boarding school in central New Jersey. Located mid-way between New York and Philadelphia and close to Princeton, CAPPS is dedicated to offering high quality cultural experiences in the visual and performing arts to residents of central New Jersey. A presenting and producing organization, CAPPS offers many diverse programs and outreach events including three concert series (jazz, classical, and more), gallery exhibits, dramatists workshop series, community theater productions, and summer camp programs in musical theater and the visual arts. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees of CAPPS and serves as the organization's Chief Executive Officer and chief spokesperson. The scope of responsibility includes artistic and programmatic policy, external and community relations, fund development and strategic planning, as well as operational, financial and administrative management. he Executive Director is, therefore, a relationship-builder who maintains a high professional profile and is able to access financial resources and develop unique collaborative vehicles for joint ventures with other organizations, public and private, for-profit and not-for-profit. The Executive Director, in consultation with the Board of Trustees, will be responsible for the development of strategic vision. Specific responsibilities include administrative management and operational leadership, fundraising, board relations and development, marketing and public relations, staffing and artistic programming. Leading candidates will have imagination, vision, leadership and a deep-rooted passion for the arts and for furthering the artistic culture of the community. The Executive Director should have the capacity to work at the intersection of artistic quality and best business practices, of consensus-oriented management and effective decision-making, and of strategic vision and pragmatic implementation. The Executive Director should have the ability to understand and embrace CAPPS' unique mission and market, particularly in light of CAPPS' relationship with Peddie School (www.peddie.org). The Executive Director works closely with the Arts Department at Peddie School on calendar, shared resources and other administrative functions. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader who has the ability to garner support for the core values and mission of CAPPS. Exceptional written, oral and public presentation skills are essential. The Executive Director must exhibit excellent organizational and administrative skills, the ability to set goals and objectives, and the skills to bring these to fruition. A strong knowledge of fiscal management is critical, including the ability to increase both earned and contributed income. Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in arts administration or a related field. Minimum of five years leadership experience in all aspects of operating an arts organization or related institution. Salary and other compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
