Director of Marketing and Communications (revised)

The Director of Marketing and Communications oversees all aspects of LMCC’s internal and external communication and promotion efforts. This includes managing the Marketing and Communications department staff that executes the press, marketing and electronic media strategies. The position works closely with the President and senior staff of all departments to coordinate program efforts, articulate goals, and retain its loyal constituent base while also developing new audiences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Identify, develop and implement marketing strategies to promote all LMCC programs • Coordinate and direct press activities • Build new marketing partnerships and cross-promotional opportunities • Co-manage sponsorship outreach with the Development Director • Establish and maintain effective relationships for information sharing, gathering, and planning with marketing colleagues • Identify main client groups and audiences and determine the best way to communicate publicity information to them • Manage the marketing and communications budget for department and other programs SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Marketing Manager; Communications Manager; Digital Projects Manager KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong knowledge of: • Marketing principles and methods • Publicity and Media relations • Media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media. • Advertising/Media Buying • Branding/Positioning • Experience in speaking and writing about the arts • Leadership / Managing People • Project Management Ability to: • Eloquently speak and write in various forums • Multitask in a fast paced environment • Meet deadlines • Manage budgets • Be graceful and diplomatic • Flexibly float between abstract and concrete concepts and tasks • Quickly organize timelines, projects, and concepts This position is exempt from overtime.
