Marketing/Development Manager

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, a New York-based nonprofit arts organization, seeks a Marketing/Development Manager to manage marketing and corporate development efforts for the Council. Essential duties and responsibilities: Strategic Marketing • Work closely with Director of Marketing & Development on organizational planning and branding especially as the Council builds its efforts toward the mission of Arts Council of Manhattan. Advertising & Promotions • Develop an action plan and timeline for fulfilling marketing needs for assigned programs and events. • Work closely with creative team on development of all marketing materials • Manage relationships of outside vendors and consultants. • Serve as main liaison between printer, designer, and the Council (which includes working with various programs/departments) during the design and production process. • Work with a writer to generate copy for print and digital media as needed. Corporate Development & Fundraising • Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Development on developing the corporate membership program and securing corporate sponsorships. • Develop corporate presentations and pitch materials. • Manage daily efforts of corporate membership & sponsor relations. • Build in-kind sponsorship for events and VIP receptions. • Assist with grant proposal writing and funder prospecting as needed. Additional Duties • Provide marketing consulting and design input to Council-related artists in producing their own marketing materials. • Review & edit content for e-newsletters, including Lowdown, This Month, and Swing Space news. • Manage interns (assigning duties and providing support/guidance in intern development) Qualified candidates should possess: • College Degree with 3-4 years work experience in the fields of Marketing, PR, Development, and/or advanced degree in Arts Administration. • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Reader, and MS Suite required. Familiarity with InDesign, Quark, HTML, XML, FileMaker Pro and Now Contact/Up-To-Date and MAC systems. • Knowledge of Marketing & Public Relations theory and principles, non-profit operation and administration practices, City and State politics, event production, public art programming, and print & design processes. • Effective writing and communications skills • Ability to multitask and manage other employees/interns. • Professionalism-position requires interaction with high-level corporate and political figures. • Ability to think creatively and “outside the box” in regards to branding & strategic marketing.
