National Indigenous Dance Coordinator
The National Indigenous Dance Coordinator will work with Indigenous dancers to develop national networks and implement initiatives to enhance professional development and career opportunities, and promote dancers internationally. This project will establish some of the ‘pathways’ for Indigenous Dance in Australia identified by the ‘Creating Pathways’ forum held in Canberra in 2005. The person in this role will need to engage actively with stakeholders and partners. They will be expected to work autonomously and as a team member to implement projects on time without compromising the integrity of the projects and benefits to the participants and recipients. They need to think critically and strategically and be self-motivated to drive results. The person in this role requires excellent people management, lobbying and negotiation skills. Selection criteria: 1. Indigenous 2. Professional dance industry experience and relevant qualifications 3. Knowledge of requirements of professional dance artists 4. Experience in project management, including budget management 5. Decision-making and problem-solving skills 6. Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal 7. Advocacy, lobbying and negotiation skills 8. Experience in implementing change with a diverse range of stakeholders.
