Regional Arts Council Members
Arts Council England is the national development agency for the arts. Our ambition for 2006-2008 is to put the arts at the heart of national life and people at the heart of the arts. The organisation has nine regional arts councils that support the work of Council and the regional offices, and advocate for the arts in England. Arts Council England is seeking to appoint a new member to its West Midlands regional arts council who can contribute, in particular, experience of arts and disability. Applicants should have: · A broad overview of the full range of the regional council's responsibilities · Knowledge and understanding of the arts and the region, and the ability to command respect within the arts constituency and among stakeholders · The ability and willingness to act as an advocate for the arts and to represent the work of the national organisation to a broad audience in the region · The ability to think imaginatively and strategically, and contribute to effective decision- making · An understanding and commitment to diversity Members of regional councils serve on a voluntary basis, although expenses are paid, and must live or work in the region. The time commitment for the role is up to 12 days per year.
