Research Director

Small nonprofit association seeks a program director to oversee research for and about the nation’s 56 state and jurisdictional arts agencies. This individual manages multiple research and evaluation activities and helps state and national audiences use information to inform policy, programming and advocacy. Responsibilities include:

  • Directing a portfolio of research services that respond to the needs of the organization and its membership
  • Securing information on state arts agency funding, grant making, programming, policies, programs, structure, staffing and compensation
  • Overseeing all research and evaluation activities, including survey design, data verification, analysis and reporting
  • Facilitating the use of research
  • Supervising research staff (3) and managing initiatives, budgets and contracts
  • Collaborating with staff, members and partner organizations Requirements: MA/MS; 5+ years research and program management experience; prior work in a client-centered environment; mastery of applied research and analysis methods; technological fluency; superior communications skills; ability to manage both projects and people. Background in state government, public policy, the arts or association management also desired.
