Chair of New Public Art Organisation

Job Description: CBAT & Cywaith Cymru .Artworks Wales are currently in the process of merging to establish a new public art organisation for Wales based in Cardiff, in partnership with the Arts Council of Wales. Building on the success of the two existing organisations, the new body will be charged with exploring the potential for interdisciplinary practice across art, design, landscape and architecture. We are seeking to recruit a chair who will lead the board of the new organisation and work closely with theExecutive Director in the inception period. It is anticipated that the new chair will be involved in the appointment of the Executive Director. The Chair is not remunerated, but reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of their duties will be paid.The right candidate will have strategic vision and leadership skills, independent judgement and an ability to think creatively. They will need to demonstrate abroad knowledge of public art practice and understanding of the issues surrounding artistic intervention in the built and rural environment in Wales,as well as in the UK and internationally.
