Committee Members

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) distributes the heritage share of funds raised by the National Lottery, supporting projects that celebrate our identity and transform historic buildings and places, landscapes, museums, archives and more. HLF has made over 16,000 awards totalling more than £3 billion to projects in the UK since 1994. The Heritage Lottery Fund is seeking to appoint new Members for each of its nine regional committees, which cover every part of England. The committees meet four times a year to decide on grant awards for projects up to £2 million and advise HLF’s UK Board of Trustees on heritage priorities in their regions. Members will also be required to represent HLF by speaking at project openings, visiting projects seeking funding and others that have already been funded, and by taking part in community events to encourage new applications from under-funded areas. Successful candidates should be committed to and enthusiastic about promoting a greater level of public enjoyment and understanding of the heritage of their region. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds. You may have experience or knowledge of the heritage sector, or community or voluntary sector working, or areas such as economic regeneration, tourism or education. Whatever your experience to date, if you can demonstrate that you can apply your skills to HLF’s benefit, we would like to hear from you. Applicants from minority ethnic communities are particularly welcome as they are under-represented at present. Members are required to commit on balance one day per month to committee business and may claim a daily fee of £80. Travel and expenses are reimbursed. Appointments will commence from 1st April 2006.
