Regional Arts Council members
The Arts Council is seeking to appoint two new members to its South East regional arts council. The Arts Council has nine regional arts councils that support the work of National Council and the regional offices, and advocate for the arts in England. Applications are invited from interested people in the South East region for these two vacancies. Applicants from any arts or related background are welcome but due to the composition of the current membership we particularly welcome interest from people with knowledge and/or experience of the visual arts or literature. Candidates should have a broad overview of the full range of the regional council's responsibilities; knowledge and understanding of the arts and the region, and the ability to command respect within the arts constituency and among regional stakeholders; the ability and willingness to act as an advocate for the arts and to represent the work of the national organisation to a broad audience in the region; the ability to think imaginatively and strategically, and contribute to effective decision-making; and understanding and commitment to diversity. The time commitment for the role is up to 12 days per year. Members of regional councils serve on a voluntary basis - although expenses are paid - and must live or work in the region.
