Corporate Strategist

The British Library is one of the greatest research libraries in the world. The new strategic agenda is to consolidate its position at the forefront of international developments in collecting, storing and providing access to information in every format. In this highly influential role, the incumbent will develop strategies that allow the Library to continue to excel in delivering the world's knowledge in a digital age. Working closely with the Head of Strategy and Planning, the postholder will look at internal and external forces acting on the Library, and use this knowledge to evolve the corporate strategy. From high-level interviews to quantitative analysis and project management, this is a varied role operating in a complex and high-profile organisation. Applicants must have proven ability as a structured strategic thinker who can produce concise, practical recommendations from a mass of data. They should also be experienced in interviewing a range of people, and possess networking and influencing skills to enable them to consult successfully and disseminate complex ideas widely. The Library has a strong competency-based performance management programme which encourages the highest standards of service innovation and professional development.
