Director of Information Systems

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading nonprofit organisation for advancing the arts in America, seeks a Director of Information Systems. The Director of Information Systems provides guidance and direction for activities related to the administration, maintenance, and integrity of the organisation’s information and telephone systems. The director develops and implements plans for the organization’s information systems and works with others to develop policies and standards for information systems administration and security. The principal responsibility is to manage and maintain the organizations network systems running on Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003. The director will also be responsible for the management of vendors responsible for the organisation’s phone systems as well as the administration of an on-site blackberry server and the Sprint Enterprise service. The director will be responsible for providing technical assistance to staff in remote locations, including Americans for the Arts’ office in New York City. Setting policies, procedures and finding new technologies to improve the communication between staff in the DC office(s) and remote locations will be the responsibility of the director. The director will function as part of a larger technology department that maintains the organisation’s databases, websites, and network systems. The director will interact with vendors and consultants to maintain and develop organizational network. The director supervises a help desk staff. Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. or B.A. in Information Technology, Computer Programming, Information Systems Management, or related field.
  • Five years experience in information management or information technology field with progressively greater responsibility required
  • Supervisory experience and demonstrated group facilitation team building and collaboration skills required.
  • Knowledge with Windows and Macintosh Environments required.
  • Outstanding problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple project.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, self-motivated, multi-tasking and committed to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships in a team atmosphere.
  • IT experience in a nonprofit setting preferred.
