Development Officer

A person with strong grant writing and reporting skills is required to assist in securing financial resources from government, foundations, corporations, and individuals. The Development Officer will work closely with the Foundation's Executive Director, Board, and Marketing and Communications Officer in achieving the goals of the position. Specifically, the Development Officer will:

  • coordinate the implementation of an overall development plan;
  • assist the Executive Director with contacts and presentations to potential donors;
  • co-ordinate the work of the External Affairs Committee of the Foundation Board;
  • develop and write proposals to foundation, corporate, and government funders for general operating and special project support;
  • manage an annual fund appeal to individuals;
  • research donor prospects and maintain prospect files;
  • co-ordinate meetings, regular communication or other cultivation activities with donors and prospects;
  • manage donor recognition programs;
  • manage correspondence with donors including that associated with contract awards, acknowledgements, and reports;
  • ensure that appropriate information is captured in Foundation databases regarding awards and rejections, reports, restrictions, and payment schedules;
  • maintain donor databases;
  • manage, with appropriate staff, the submission of all donor-required reports including interim and final reports.
