Director of Planning & Communication

The Scottish Arts Council have created a new senior strategic role in response to increasing need for planning and communications. The Director of Planning and Communication will report to the Director and will hold a senior and influential position. The key objective of the role is to create a proactive planning and communications culture across the organisation with structures and control mechanisms that maximise the short, mid and long-term opportunities to create a positive profile for Scottish art and artists. The key responsibilities in delivering against this objective will be: - Manage and develop the planning team and the communications team - Create a clear strategic planning structure that positively engages all stakeholders including ongoing monitoring and evaluation, and an effective research strategy - Develop an all-encompassing communications strategy that positively profiles Scottish arts and the Scottish Arts Council through PR, media management and all appropriate elements of the marketing mix To apply for this role you will not necessarily have an arts background but an enthusiastic interest in the arts will be essential. It is crucial that your professional skill-set and approach encompasses: - Successful involvement in delivery of organisational change and development - Strong strategic planning skills combined with an understanding of operational planning mechanisms - Creation and implementation of communications strategy in complex organisations - Experience at a senior level of media management and broad experience of marketing communications - Leadership of high performing teams - Natural enthusiasm, energy and self-belief with the ability to influence at a senior level
