Director - Strategic Policy Planning
The Director will be responsible for advancing and implementing the strategic public policy agenda and developing effective approaches to support the public policy agenda of NCNA and its members. This position will work closely with Director of Public Policy. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develop and inform the organisation's strategy and approach for its policy work - Advance and implement the strategic public policy agenda - Develop and coordinate NCNA's public policy communications plan including outreach to congressional leadership, media, nonprofit sector and general public - Advance and assist state associations with their public policy and advocacy efforts - Oversee the development of major policy publications - Produce reports, articles, legislative alerts and research papers - Represent NCNA and its network in external events and activities as needed - Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested with a sense of humor and team spirit QUALIFICATIONS: - Advanced college graduate with 7-8 years experience preferably public policy, government relations, legal, and external relations with at least 3 years in a management position - Interest and experience in the nonprofit sector particularly with association or state based membership organisations - Ability to build, maintain, and manage long-term relationships with elected and public officials, members and national partners - Strategic and conceptual thinker with ability to integrate information in a useable and informative manner - Ability to work well in a small office which requires team work - Ability to juggle multiple projects with limited support staff - Excellent writing skills, including proofreading and editing abilities - Strong communication and outreach skills - Strong and demonstrated planning and evaluation skills - Must have excellent organisational and critical thinking skills Required: Strong computer skills with MS Office such as PowerPoint, Word and Access.
