Chair
Arts Council England, North East is looking for a new, high profile and dynamic Chair. The new chair will be a member of the national Arts Council and the chair of a 15 strong regional advisory council, which includes representatives from the arts, business, education and local government. The successful applicant should have a good knowledge and understanding of the arts as well as skills in strategic thinking and effective decision-making. They should also have the ability to act as an advocate for the arts and to command respect in the region as well as within the national council. The appointment is for a four-year period. The estimated time commitment is up to thirty days a year including at least 5 national Arts Council meetings. Remuneration and expenses are provided to reflect the duties of the position. Closing date for receipt of applications is 8 July 2004. The Department for Culture, Media and Sports promotes an equal opportunities policy. Applications are particularly welcome from women, people from ethnic minority backgrounds and disabled people.
