Director of Policy & Strategy
Yorkshire Culture is the lead body for the region's cultural strategy: 'deep roots, real achievements, lofty ambitions' and recently published action plan 2004 - 2006. The cultural strategy includes sport, arts, museums, libraries, heritage and tourism issues. In this high level post you will drive forward strategic initiatives to achieve change in the region's cultural life. You will originate and manage significant areas of policy development through region wide partnerships and a wide range of advocacy activities, working closely with the Chief Executive. Educated to degree level, or equivalent, you will have a proven track record of working at a senior level with the cultural sector on strategic development and achieving results through partnership working. Your experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams and projects as well as securing external funding will be combined with an understanding of current issues affecting the cultural sector. Flexible in your approach to working hours, you will have exceptional communication and negotiating skills. The successful candidate will initially focus on delivery in the following areas: Culture & Tourism, Events Strategy, Olympics Bid 2012, Access issues (social inclusion, community participation and regeneration) The position is fixed term for two years with possible extension (negotiable).
