Director - Information Services
This position ensures budgets, staff, contracts, technical infrastructure and administrative procedures are in place to provide these services effectively, manages the operations efficiently and to agreed service standards and ensures their ongoing development and continuous improvement. Under general direction, the Director will: Manage the planning and delivery of the museum's information technology infrastructure and services to internal and external users. Manage and monitor performance of information systems and plan appropriate actions to ensure ongoing access, performance and efficiencies. Plan, monitor and ensure efficient and secure storage and access to corporate information of the museum in both digital and paper-based records. Ensure effective risk management (including security, access and business continuity) plans are in place, monitored and updated as required. Maintain infrastructure for the delivery of internal and external web sites, monitor ongoing performance of these sites, and identify requirements for changes to associated technical infrastructure. Coordinate the development of required IT skills amongst Museum staff and the ongoing administration of support and training programs services. Manage the planning and development of system upgrades, new system implementation and development. Manage service contracts for delivery of hardware, software, infrastructure and help and support services and monitor and report on provision of services under these contracts, including monitoring customer feedback. Develop, maintain and promote information standards in accordance with legislative requirements and museum best practice. Manage the delivery of library services to internal and external users. Contribute to the Museum's strategic development of information technology, particularly through the identification of areas for improvement or greater efficiencies, and the implementation of new technologies. Supervise a team with responsibility for the ongoing delivery of information services to internal and external customers. Manage the operating budget for the Information Services Branch, prepare business cases, and monitor the financial status and performance of third party contracts. Ensures that he/she has sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to undertake his/her work safely and that employees in the team are provided with sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to enable them to perform their duties safely.
