Head of Development
The Head of Development will raise millions for a new Film Centre and significantly increase sponsorship for major film festivals and touring. The bfi promotes greater understanding, appreciation and access to film and television culture. It has the world's largest film archive and is a world leader in film restoration and preservation. Development funding is needed for the bfi's existing National Film Theatre, the National Film & TV Archive and the digitalisation of the bfi's collection. Reporting to the Director, the Head of Development will set up and lead a small team in implementing a new strategy for long-term development of the bfi. Based in Central London, the Development Department raises sponsorship and funding from foundations, individuals and official bodies. A pro-active stakeholder development programme will also be developed with the marketing and communications teams. Excellent leadership, marketing and policy-making skills will enable the postholder to make a significant contribution to the bfi's strategic planning. Candidates should have a track record in fundraising and sponsorship combined with strategic vision and the ability to negotiate at the highest levels. The successful applicant will be energetic, persuasive, resilient and able to demonstrate success at a senior level within a not for profit organisation. The bfi operates an Equal Opportunities Policy and staff are expected to carry out their duties with due regard to the policy at all times. The bfi runs the National Film Theatre, The Times bfi London Film Festival and the bfi London IMAX® Cinema. It also houses the world's largest film library and educational resource. The bfi releases films in cinema and on video and DVD, publishes books and runs educational programmes.
