Executive Director/Curator
Visual Associations is the largest artists information resource in the UK hosting a variety of collections of information, including: Axis, a database & website presenting work by over 4,000 artists; Open Frequency, which features recent work by artists nominated by invited curatorial advisors; and Smudgeflux, a new resource for teachers and students of art, helping to bring contemporary art and artists into the classroom. Future strategic collaborations will provide online visitors with information about contemporary artists across a wide range of contexts. With core funding in place for the next three years, a new Executive Director is sought who can: · lead the organisation into and beyond this new stage in its development · act as spokesperson for the organisation to a wide range of audiences, including funders, artists and the general public · lead the development of the artistic programme for the organisation The ideal candidate will have: · a deep and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary visual and applied arts practice · curating and/or commissioning experience · business and senior management skills · experience of fundraising for the arts from all sectors
