DIRECTOR OF VISUAL ARTS
The Americas Society, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to raise awareness of the cultures and societies of the Western Hemisphere, seeks a dynamic and creative Director of Visual Arts. Principal activities include developing exhibition and program schedules; reviewing proposals; working with an advisory board; assisting with grant applications and fund-raising; and supervising a small staff. The position involves setting strategic programming and development goals within an institutional context. Applicants should have a graduate degree, and a Ph.D in Art History or Latin American Studies is desirable. They must have a strong background in Latin American, Caribbean and/or Canadian art, fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese, at least two years experience in an arts organization, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Salary commensurate with experience, and excellent benefits.
