The Courtauld Institute of Art is seeking to appoint a Director of the Courtauld in succession to Professor Eric Fernie who will be retiring in autumn 2002. The appointment coincides with the expected change of status of the Courtauld in August 2002 from an integral part of the University of London to a separately incorporated and self-governing College of the University. The successful candidate will combine scholarly distinction with the ability to lead an academic institution which incorporates one of the major London art galleries.
