Portugal – Specialized art courses offered
The Ministry of Education organized the offer of specialized art courses by creating the specialized teaching basic courses for dance and music and by approving the corresponding study plans.
This restructuring aims to create solutions that allow to frame basic level specialized artistic education, taking into account the diversity of the formative offer in this field and, at the same time, guaranteeing all students the possibility of developing basic education’s essential competences.
The new legal frame favours the existence of a common educational base in the areas of dance and music reinforcing the student’s global artistic education and, simultaneously safeguarding the permeability of study plans.
According to the decree published in the Diário da República, in the area of dance the Dance Basic Course was created and in the area of music, the Music Basic Course and the Gregorian Chant Basic Course, approving their respective study plans.
This decree also establishes the regulations relative to students’ admission, class constitution, assessment and certification relative to the courses created by this decree and to the secondary/complementary courses of dance and music.
