Angola: Head of State installs new govt today
The Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, will install in office this Friday, in Luanda, the country's new government officials, following the appointment of a new prime minister, as a result of last September's legislative elections won by the ruling MPLA party.
The new government will have 35 departments, whose portfolios will be held by 33 ministers and two secretaries of state, who will swear an oath to the country, pledging to cooperate in achieving the supreme goals of the State, in a ceremony that is to take place this Friday morning, at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda.
Female representation in the government is estimated at 28,5 per cent, which confirms that the intention of the ruling MPLA party is to overcome the target of 30%, recommended by the Southern African Development Community (SADC), although the deputy ministers have not been appointed yet.
The ministers of foreign affairs, economy, justice, finances and trade respectively Assunção Afonso dos Anjos, Manuel Nunes Júnior, Guilhermina da Costa Prata, Severim de Morais and Idalina Valente, will make their debut in the government.
The ministers of hotels and tourism, geology and mining, science and technology and energy, respectively Pedro Mutinde, ankenda Ambroise, Maria Cândida Teixeira and Emanuela Veira Lopes, as well as José Carvalho da Rocha minister of telecommunications and information technologies, José Vieira Dias Van-Dúnem minister of health and Rosa Cruz e Silva minister of culture also appear for the first time in the Central Executive.
The ministers of family, youth and sport and secretary of state for rural development, respectively Genoveva da Conceição Lino, Gonçalves Muandumba, Maria Filomena Delgado are also debutants in the government.
