New faces for Hong Kong Arts Development Council
The Hong Kong Arts Development Council has begun the new year with a new team of Council members, charged with leading the organisation through 2007. The Council, established by the Government in June 1995 to plan, promote and support the broad development of the arts, announced its new team of leadership earlier in the New Year. Incoming members were welcomed by the Home Affairs Bureau and must now set to work on formulating plans for future strategy and development. One of the major tasks ahead o f the ADC is the creation of a fertile environment for local arts development, providing different types of support to local artists and arts organisations. Platforms to facilitate this are on the agenda for 2005, under the leadership of the new Council. Other chief goals include greater arts access for the public and the promotion of Hong Kong as an Asian cultural metropolis. Outgoing ADC Council members were formally thanked for their ‘guidance and leadership’ across the last three years. The New Hong Kong Arts Development Council will be Chaired by Mr Ma Fung-kwok, accompanied by Vice-Chairman, Dr. Peter Wong King-keung. The full list of new members is as follows: Dr Stephen Chan Choi-lai; Ms Monnie Chan Yuet-hung; Mr Ko Wai-tak; Prof Dominic Lam Man-kit ; Mr Maurice Lee Wai-man; Ms Paddy Lui Wai-yu; Mr Peter Pang Hiu-ming; Mr Tsang Kee-kung; Ms Lina Yan Hau-yee; Ms Yao Jue ; Ms Irene Yau Oi-yuen; Mr Rocco Yim Sen-kee; Ms Chan Hang-kwai; Dr Cheung Ping-kuen; Ms Barbara Fei; Mr Hon Man-po; Dr Victor Lai Ming-hoi; Mr Lee Kam-yin ; Mr Ng Kang-fai; Mr To Kei-fung; Mr Willy Tsao Sing-yuen; and Dr Jessica Yeung Wai-yee .
