Resource grants £90,000 for promotion of cultural diversity
Museums, archives and libraries in the nine English regions will celebrate their work as part of the Cultural Diversity Festival this year, thanks to a £90,000 grant from Resource. The grant will see museums, archives and libraries organise reading groups in languages other than English, celebrate religious festivals and provide arts based activities – such as Chinese painting and Arabic calligraphy – for local communities. ‘Support for museums, archives and libraries to promote community understanding and value of diverse cultures and faiths is high on our agenda,’ said Resource Cultural Diversity Development Officer, Naila Durrani. The £90,000 investment to promote cultural diversity follows on from a previous grant of £45,00 for the provision of Cultural Diversity Co-ordinators in each region.
