New Chair appointed to National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts
Chris Powell will be the new Chair of England's National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA), Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell has announced. The former Labour Party adviser, who is also the Chair of the Institute of Public Policy Research and the Creative Industries Advisory Group of the British Council, will take up the four-year appointment on October 31. Powell is also a board member of United Business Media PLC and Riverside Studios. Referring to Powell’s advertising background, Secretary Jowell said she was ‘delighted’ with the appointment. ‘His advertising background will be invaluable in helping promote NESTA’s ideas and strategies and I know he will provide the vision and leadership necessary to drive forward [NESTA’s] important agendas,’ she said.
