The first Ibero-American Forum on Municipal and Local Cultural Policies
The First Ibero-American Forum on Municipal and Local Cultural Policies will take place in Puebla region on April 28-30. Its objective to gather Ibero-American governmental officials in charge of municipal and local cultural development programs.
Derived from an agreement of the Ibero-American Cultural Chart, endorsed at the XVI Summit in Montevideo, Uruguay, this forum intends to promote and protect cultural diversity which is at the origin and foundations of Ibero-American culture, as well as the multiple identities, languages and traditions that constitute it and make it richer.
The forum is organized by the Ibero-American General Secretariat, Mexico’s National Culture and Arts Council (Conaculta), Argentina’s Culture Secretariat, the Convenio Andrés Bello, the Spaniard Agency for International Cooperation for Development, and Puebla’s Municipality.
Also take part: Puebla’s Municipal Institute for Arts and Culture, Iberescena, the Cultural Programs of the Ibero-American General Secretariat, Ibermuseos, Ibermedia, the Ibero-American Forum of Officials in charge of Public Libraries and Ibero-American Television.
The Forum expects municipalities and localities to access knowledge and exchange experiences on social cohesion and local cultural administration. The idea is to offer local governments theoretic elements and practical strategies to design and implement public cultural policies for social cohesion and inclusion and to create indicators in order to strengthen and improve their work.
Master conferences, plenary sessions, discussion panels, academic seminars, interactive meeting rooms and other events constitute the general program and will facilitate the exchange of information between the assistants, hoping that it will later become a collaborative network of municipalities and localities within the Ibero-American community.
The City’s Theater, the NH Terraza Hotel, the Cantarrana’s Palace, Puebla de Antaño Hotel and the Uriarte Talavera House will be the venues of the meeting.
