Fourth Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture and Highest Appropriate Authorities
The Fourth Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Culture and Highest Appropriate Authorities will take place on November 20 and 21, 2008 in Bridgetown, Barbados. On this occasion, Ministers and Highest Appropriate Authorities of the Americas, together with representatives from International Organizations and Civil Society, will gather together to discuss the topic: "The Economy of Culture in the Americas: A Path to Sustainable Growth and Social Inclusion".
Within this topic, four sub-topics will be analyzed:
1. How to develop effective public policies for the development and sustainability of a vibrant cultural sector?
2. How does an artist obtain international recognition?
3. What is the impact of partnerships and alliances in the economy of culture and what is the role of the public and private sectors and of international partners?
4. How to engage youth in the economy of culture?
This will also be the first time youth delegates will present concrete recommendations on youth arts policy to Ministers of Culture of the Hemisphere. These recommendations emanated from the Youth Arts Policy Forum: Ignite the Americas held in Toronto, Canada on September 16 - 21, 2008.
