Conference on the Business of Performing Arts
The Hong Kong Arts Festival Society, Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association and the Fringe Club, jointly present: Conference on the Business of Performing Arts - Marketing the Arts to Chinese Speaking Territories, held 1 to 3 March 2004, as part of the 2004 Hong Kong Arts Festival. The conference aims to bring together arts administrators from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong & Pearl River Delta, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and beyond to discuss issues of common interest, including: - new venues - touring circuits - marketing and audience development - arts developments in the region and outside - establising a network for exchange and collaboration - harnessing Chinese-speaking markets Invited speakers and participants include General Manager of Shanghai Grand Theatre Arts Centre, Mr Qian Shi Jin (PRC); Chairman of the Board of the Directors of Performing Arts Alliance, Ms Wen Huei-wen (Taiwan); Director of the National Ballet of China, Ms Zhao Ruheng (PRC); CEO of Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Mr. Benson Puah (Singapore); Managing Director of the London Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Clive Gillinson (UK) and Chief Executive of the Victorian Arts Centre, Mr. Tim Jacobs (Australia). The conference will provide a unique opportunity to meet Chinese arts administrators and artists working in performance companies, cultural venues, agencies, arts festivals and government cultural policy makers. Professional companies in Hong Kong will host forums on arts related topics, and conference participants have ample opportunity to promote their artists and groups to prospective presenters at the Artists’ Corner.
