IFACCA regional groups meet in Melbourne

Five of IFACCA’s regional chapters and groups met on Thursday 6 October in Melbourne at the conclusion of the World Summit.

IFACCA has regional chapters in Asia, Africa and Europe, and more informal regional groups in the Pacific and the Americas. The meetings focussed on projects and priorities for 2012-2013, including the development of WorldCP; D’Art research programme; advocacy and social networking; membership development; and regional events.

We were delighted that so many of our members could attend these meetings, and share their input and suggestions. The minutes of these meetings will shortly be distributed to other IFACCA national members who were unable to attend.

IFACCA regional chapters and groups comprise, in general, IFACCA’s national members. The purpose of regional chapters is to:
• build inter- and intra-regional networks between national and affiliate members of IFACCA, to promote understanding and enhance cooperation between arts councils, ministries of culture and other key cultural agencies
• promote a consolidated platform for the sharing and exchange of collective knowledge of arts councils and ministries of culture
• strengthen the capacity of arts councils and ministries of culture to meet the challenges and opportunities of policy-making and funding issues
• promote IFACCA at the regional level and assist in increasing membership
• undertake activities of interest to regional members that meet the objectives of the Federation.
