Three more speakers announced for the World Summit

IFACCA and the Australia Council for the Arts are delighted to announce Magdalena Moreno, Martin Drury and Lockie McDonald as speakers at this year’s World Summit.

Chilean born Melbourne creative producer, Magdalena Moreno is the CEO for Kultour since 2009 – Australia’s national body supporting cultural diversity in the arts through touring programs.
Prior to Kultour, she was Director of the South Project: an international cross-cultural project creating platforms for south-south dialogue and collaborations across the Southern Hemisphere. Magdalena has resided in many countries across the world and is passionate in advocating for cultural diversity and the role it plays in living a rich and fulfilling life.  She defines herself as a change agent and is committed to creating platforms for meaningful cultural and artistic development.

Martin Drury is an Arts Director at the Irish Arts Council since 2007 and oversees the work of seven teams, many of which address the concerns of the World Summit. These include Local Arts; Young People and Education; and Arts Participation. In a career of over thirty years he has been a theatre director (including as a former Associate Director of Ireland’s National Theatre)- with more than two dozen productions for audiences young and old; arts educator; pioneer of arts provision for children; and policy-maker. He spent ten years establishing and then directing Europe’s first cultural centre for children (The Ark).

Lockie McDonald currently creates works using the arts to promote and increase health services in Aboriginal communities. Training originally as a Registered Nurse, Lockie followed his creative passion to train as an acrobat with the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe from the People’s Republic of China alongside the Flying Fruit Fly Circus and Circus Oz. He initiated and founded some of Australia’s flagship performing and community arts companies, and has produced and directed a series of acclaimed community arts projects, including one off events, for several Australian international arts festivals.

Further information on these speakers is available from the World Summit website.
