Keynote speakers announced for 5th World Summit

IFACCA and the Australia Council for the Arts are delighted to announce the first keynote speakers for the 5th World Summit on Arts and Culture: Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Jacques Martial and Wan Smolbag.

A Mexican-Canadian chemist, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer uses scientific knowledge and advance technology in highly creative and interactive ways. He is a noted, awarded and collected artist globally and his work often focuses on giving people a voice of expression in response to major public events.

Jacques Martial is the President of Parc de la Villette in Paris. His appointment to La Villette, with the second largest cultural budget in France, was based on a proposal for the inclusion of local residents in the activities and programs of the precinct, following the political unrest resulting in riots around the Paris Périphérique.

Wan Smolbag (WSB) is a non-government theatre company based in Vanuatu but active throughout the Pacific region. Coupled with structured workshops facilitated by actors, the organisation uses drama to inform, raise awareness and encourage public discussion on a range of contemporary health, lifestyle, environment and governance issues.

Other speakers will be announced in future editions of ACORNS and on the Artsummit website.

Delegate registration is now open at www.artsummit.org, and early bird rates are available until 30 June. The Summit website also includes information on accommodation,  tours and visiting Melbourne.

The Summit will be co-hosted by IFACCA and the Australia Council for the Arts, with the support of Arts Victoria.
