IFACCA participates in WAAE Summit and Culturelink conferences
The World Alliance for Arts Education (WAAE) Summit, held in NewcastleGateshead, England, brought together over 100 experts from about 30 countries to prepare strategic proposals for the UNESCO World Conference on Arts Education in Seoul, Korea in May 2010. The opening on October 30th led into three days of presentations and workshops with the theme ‘Towards a Paradigm of Creative Education for the 21st Century’ and concluded with a dinner at Alnwick Castle. The Summit was supported by Creativity, Culture and Education, a new national organisation created by Arts Council England to generate and deliver some of England’s major cultural programmes for young people, and the NewcastleGateshead Initiative. The WAAE brings together the International Society for Music Education, the International Drama/Theatre and Education Association, the World Dance Alliance, and the International Society for Education through the Arts.
The 3rd World Culturelink Conference, held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 13-15 November, marked the 20th anniversary of the creation of Culturelink. The 100 participants included researchers, policymakers and leaders of networks from many fields of culture from around the world to discuss the theme ‘Networks; the Evolving Aspects of Culture in the 21st Century’. The Conference was supported by: UNESCO Bresce; HIVOS: The Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation; Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of The Republic of Croatia; Ministry of Culture of The Republic of Croatia; City of Zagreb; Ambassade de France en Croatie; Ambassade de Belgique à Zagreb; Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Zagreb; and Austrian Cultural Forum.
