IFACCA research summary released

A pamphlet summarising the 23 D’Art research reports and papers, released since 2002, was published at the recent International Conference on Cultural Policy Research.  A hard copy will be distributed to our members.

IFACCA’s research services aim to help people working in arts and cultural policy uncover information that would otherwise be difficult to find, and to consolidate and add value to the collective knowledge of arts councils and ministries of culture. Our research topics are initiated by policymakers and researchers working in the sector and are therefore focussed on practical issues in arts and cultural policy.

Most of the reports described in the pamphlet are published free of charge on IFACCA’s website. Where applicable, links are provided to the full online reports.  New resources related to these topics are continuously added to the IFACCA website.  All reports are available in English and translations of key reports into Spanish and French are underway.

IFACCA’s research reports are published on the Topics and Themes section of the website. You can browse topics across four key themes:
Artists: Topics about ways to support professional artists
Good practice: Topics relating to good practice in the operation of a national arts support agency
Policy: More general topics on arts and cultural policy
Statistics: A global perspective on arts and culture statistics and indicators

Each topic has a dedicated web page where you will find a range of resources, such as news items, publications, events and a D’Art research report if one has been produced. These dynamic pages enable the secretariat to continuously add new resources from IFACCA’s fortnightly news bulletin, ACORNS, or from members of the IFACCA network.

The IFACCA secretariat has also distributed to members two printed volumes of its research reports: the first covering reports completed from 2001 to 2003; the second covering reports from 2004 to 2006.

Another valuable resource is the Information Exchange where you will find links and special search functions to help navigate the increasing amount of cultural policy information available on the Web. For example, you can:
- Search the IFACCA website
- Search and browse the publications of national arts agencies
- Search online bibliographies and databases
- Find cultural policy experts and specialist cultural policy research agencies.

We take this opportunity to acknowledge the pivotal role our Research Analyst, Chris Madden, has had in creating this unique and valuable range of research resources.

We also acknowledge the contribution of our national and affiliate members in nearly 70 countries.  It is only with their participation and financial support, that we are able to undertake this research.
