IFACCA participates in international meetings
On 25-27 June 2008 in Dublin, IFACCA's Executive Director, Sarah Gardner, moderated one of two panel discussions in an IETM satellite meeting on intercultural dialogue, Catalytic cultures? from arts practice to arts policy. The meeting was hosted by The Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the European Cultural Contact Point Ireland in partnership with CREATE, Project Arts Centre, Culture Ireland and the National Consultative Committee for Racism and Interculturalism - National Focal Point for 2008 – European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. The panel speakers were: Sharon Fernandez, consultant and researcher, Canada, Frank Panucci, Director Community Partnerships, Australia Council for the Arts, Ann Olaerts, Director Vlaams Theater Instituut (VTi) / Flemish Theatre Institute), Eugene Downes, Chief Executive, Culture Ireland and Rosaleen McDonough, Pavee Point Travellers Centre.
Earlier that week, on 23 June 2008, Ms Gardner also participated in the UNESCO Civil Society Exchange Session entitled The role and participation of civil society in the implementation of the Convention for the Protection and the Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions: An exchange between civil society and Parties to the Convention, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
Following the session she participated in an evening discussion hosted by the Commonwealth Foundation about the future of Commonwealth engagement with the Convention. A report on the Commonwealth activities is provided here.
