Agreement signed to produce ConnectCP Latin America

IFACCA is delighted to announce its new partnership with Organisation of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and Interarts Foundation to create ConnectCP Iberoamericano , a Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese subset of ConnectCP, the international who's who in cultural policy, planning and research.

ConnectCP Iberoamericano, which will be available via the website of the OEI, will contain profiles of cultural policy researchers and policy analysts from Latin American countries, Spain and Portugal. By allowing users to find and contact cultural policy experts in Spanish speaking countries, ConnectCP Iberoamericano will facilitate exchanges between Latin American cultural policy experts to encourage collaborations and stimulate debate and knowledge exchange.

As the portal will be fully integrated with the international version of ConnectCP, there will also be greater opportunities for exchange between Latin American experts and experts in other regions.

A number of Latin American experts are already on ConnectCP, including:
Clarisa Ruiz, Colombia
Arturo Navarro, Chile
Maria Paulina Soto Labbé, Chile
Alfonso Castellanos, Mexico

With this project, IFACCA, the OEI and Interarts Foundation hope to significantly expand the number of Latin American experts on ConnectCP.

IFACCA' s Bogotá-based Latin American coordinator, Santiago Jara, will help coordinate the promotion of the project within Latin America. We aim to have ConnectCP Iberoamericano fully operational by June 2008.

In fact, the first phase of this partnership, the establishment of Spanish language functionality, is already functioning in ConnectCP international. If you are already an expert on ConnectCP, you are now invited to add your profile in Spanish by visiting your modify screen , which is now available in Spanish, French and English. You can submit your biography and summary biography in Spanish or French by ticking the language box lower down on the form. All generic parts of your profile will then be translated automatically for you!

ConnectCP, an initiative of IFACCA, is an international online database of cultural policy experts. The database currently contains profiles for more than 520 experts from 78 countries. The profiles outline experts' experience, current interests and other information relevant to their work in cultural policy. Through partnerships with the OEI, Interarts, the Canadian Cultural Observatory and the Australia Council for the Arts, IFACCA has been able to diversify the number of experts and present ConnectCP in Spanish and French. Organisations interested in discussing collaborations with ConnectCP are invited to contact the ConnectCP co-ordinator, Diane Dodd, at diane@connectcp.org or IFACCA's Executive Director, Sarah Gardner, at info@ifacca.org.
